The consistent drought conditions have resulted in a historic change in the way the Toledo Bend Spillway is operated. The reservoir is so low that they can no longer generate. In order to meet downstream contract requirements, they're having to release water through the spillway. Check out the best whitewater the state has ever seen!

I will be teaching Quickstart Your Kayak, in conjunction with the Pelican Paddler's Cayenne Kayak Challenge. This workshop is a brief introduction to paddling a kayak. Students are presented with basic information on dressing to paddle safely and potential hazards and simple rescues. A minimal paddle skill set is presented and practiced, allowing students to safely and comfortably maneuver on still water. The cost is $25 per person and space is limited. Please contact me asap to reserve your spot! (Saturday Sep 24th from 8am till 11am at the I-10 Beach near the Yacht Club)

There will be an Introduction to Kayaking class at Holbrook Park on Saturday, June 18th and an Essentials of River Kayaking class at the Toledo Bend Spillway on Sunday, June 19th. Space is limited and gear is available on a first come first serve basis.
